How To Deal With People Talking Behind Your Back

Let us start with the story about The Noisy Frogs.

A farmer came into town and asked the owner of a restaurant if he could use a million frog legs. The restaurant owner was shocked and asked the man where he could get so many frog legs!

The farmer replied, There is a pond near my house that is full of frogs – millions of them. They all croak all night long and they are about to make me crazy! So the restaurant Owner and the farmer made an agreement that the farmer would deliver frogs to the restaurant, five hundred at a time for the next several weeks.

The first week, the farmer returned to the restaurant looking rather sheepish, with two scrawny little frogs. The restaurant owner said, Well… where are all the frogs. The farmer said, I was mistaken. There were only these two frogs in the pond. But they sure were making a lot of noise!

Next time you hear somebody criticizing or making fun of you, remember, it’s probably just a couple of noisy frogs. Also remember that problems always seem bigger in the dark.

Have you ever laid in your bed at night worrying about things which seem almost overwhelming like a million frogs croaking. Chances are pretty good that when the morning comes, and you take a closer look, you’ll wonder what all the fuss was about.

That is how you deal with people talking behind your back.

Attachment, especially on material things, can be a burden to the spirit.

Author: Kritika V for SaibabaDaily.com

We are all born for a purpose, each one of us. However, most of us fail to know that purpose through out our lives. This happens because as we start to live our lives, we get attracted to material things. We make them the purpose of our life and thus, end up having a body without a peaceful soul and mind. The spirituality goes away with our attachment to all the material things.

You are here reading this because you are a believer of God. But, have you sincerely followed the lessons that God teaches us? We know what all our Baba did to teach us all about love, respect, life, spirituality and God. Have you ever wondered how we would have learnt about all this if our Sai had not given up on materialistic things? We would never have known about this beautiful opportunity, life we have, we have never known how good it feels to give a hand to someone who needs your help.

Sai Baba contributed his entire life to his people, to his children, to the nature and to all the animals. He never cared to sleep on a soft comfortable bed, to eat delicious dishes, to wear glittering clothes with gold jewellery. Instead of this, He is always concerned about his devotees and give them enough to sleep with comfort, he gives them enough to have a good meal and to wear good clothes. Baba stayed away from materiel things and did not attach himself to any of it. He gave the message to be kind and content. That’s what He calls the secret to have a good spirit.

Taking our few extracts from the Holy Book, Sai Satcharitra to explain how Baba tell us about non-attachment to material things and to walk on the path of spirituality.

1. About UDI :

It is well-known that Baba took Dakshina from all, and out of the amount thus collected, He spent a lot on charity and purchased fuel with the balance left with Him. This fuel He threw in the Dhuni – the sacred fire, which he kept ever burning. The ash from this fire was called Udi and it was freely distributed to the devotees at the time of their departure from Shirdi.

What did Baba teach or hint by this Udi? Baba taught by His Udi that all the visible phenomena in the universe are as transient as the ash. Our bodies composed of wood or matter of the five elements, will fall down, after all their enjoyments are over, and be reduced to ashes. In order to remind the devotees of the fact that their bodies will be reduced to ashes, Baba distributed Udi to them. Baba also taught by the Udi that the Brahman is the only Reality and the universe is ephemeral and that no one in this world, be he a son, father or wife, is really ours.

We come here (in this world) alone and we have to go out alone. It was found and is even now found out, that the Udi cured many physical and mental maladies, but Baba wanted to din into the devotee’s ears the principles of discrimination between the Unreal and the Real, non-attachment for the Unreal, by His Udi and Dakshina. The former (Udi) taught us discrimination and the latter (Dakshina) taught us non-attachment. Unless we have these two things, it is not possible for us to cross over the sea of the mundane existence.

So Baba asked for and took Dakshina, and while the devotees took leave, He gave Udi as Prasad, besmeared some of it on the Bhaktas’ foreheads and placed His boon-conferring hand on their heads. When Baba was in a cheerful mood, He used to sing merrily. One such song was about Udi. The burden of the Udi song was this,”Oh, playful Rama, come, come, and bring with you sacks of Udi.” Baba used to sing in very clear and sweet tones.

So much about the spiritual implication of Udi. It had also its material significance. It conferred health, prosperity, freedom from anxiety, and many other worldly gains. So the Udi has helped us to gain both our ends – material as well as spirituaL.

2. About Baba’s simplicity :

Our country has seen great saints and sages, from generation to generation, who have achieved great spiritual levels and acquired extremely difficult knowledge, by leaving their families, houses, and going to secluded places. They have achieved these spiritual levels by undergoing great sacrifices and sufferings.

Almost all of them strived for their own upliftment. Sai Baba is the only Sadguru who remained in the midst of this world, and strove for the betterment of His devotees. He had no wife, no progeny, no home, nor any relative – near or distant. In fact He did not have anything which could be called His own – except His devotees. He begged His food from four or five houses, lived underneath the Neem tree, carried on in this materialistic world and taught His devotees.

His life story is the story of a totally selfless person who lived only for the sake of welfare of His devotees. He taught them the essence of the art of living and behaving in this world. He also took them, hand in hand and very affectionately, on to the difficult path to eternal bliss. Rare indeed are the saints and sages who after attaining God-vision, work for the welfare of the ordinary common ignorant people.

Therefore, we all need to separate ourselves from material things and we should get close to serving God and others.

Make your life a rose that speaks silently in the language of fragrance.

Of late, there has been a considerable amount of stress on every individual in all aspects of life. There’s no way to escape from this fact but to admit it. Let us take a moment to analyze the exact situation. Right from the moment we wake up from our bed until we go to bed, we all struggle with our issues, face our challenges, and at the end of the day, we get into bed to get ready to face another day with full of challenges and obstacles to be conquered. In the due process, we are getting tired and exhausted and thus, we tend to lose our energy.

Believe me; half of the problems that we face in this materialistic world can be solved if we tend to improve our inner world. And this can only be achieved when we start to live a life by spreading happiness and peace around us. Yes, the power to achieve peace with your surroundings is within you.

The key to achieve this is to unlock your spiritual world by constantly analyzing yourself, and surrendering to God completely. Your spiritual world can be unlocked only by making peace and harmony with your inner self.  So to make your life meaningful, spend some quality time by finding about your purpose on this earth through spiritual journey. Once you discover your purpose on this earth, God helps you in accomplishing your goal. But to achieve this, you need to have faith and perseverance in God. And above all, you need to be humble as it is the only way to take you higher in life.

Once upon a time, there was a cat who thought that since she belonged to the tiger family, she can demand anything from anyone. By thinking so, she saw a donkey coming in her way. She stopped the donkey and demanded to take her on its back. The donkey thought of teaching the cat a lesson and asked it whether she should take the cat to a tiger or a leopard. The cat got frightened and begged the donkey to take it to a mouse. The donkey advised the cat that even though the tiger and leopard are bigger animals, they never boast of their power. The cat then realized her mistake and decided not to ever boast once again.

While the grass bows before a storm, huge trees get washed off just because they do not know how to bend in a storm. Similarly, one’s presence should not be made to realize by them. But it should be realized by people around them. Only then we can gain respect and recognition. The more we forge ahead in life, the more we need to remain humble. Only then can we achieve the pinnacle of peace, prosperity and happiness.

Devotees Experiences - Shyamal Barooah - Bangalore

Anantakoti Brahmanda Nayak Rajadhiraj Yogiraj Parabrahmma Sri Sachidananda Sadguru SaiNath Maharaj Ki Jai!

Dear devotees!

I, Shyamal Barooah would like to share few experiences with our beloved Baba which took place recently. Before starting I would like to say “Sorry” as I am not that good at writing.

1) This year February we went to Shirdi (Me,wife and 2 daughters)which we had been planning for long time. We have flown from Bangalore and took our pre-booked taxi from E-cab Company. My wife was having problem with her monthly cycle quite often and while we travelled that time she was ok. We checked in our regular Hotel Sai Murali which we have been using since 2010 and then an unwanted thing happened! My wife faced the same problem and she was coming out from bathroom crying. I consoled her not to lose hope that you cannot have Bab’s Darshan this time and this is Baba’s will only.

We cannot do anything. Whole journey I was thinking about good Darshan for all of us and get Baba’s blessings and also this time I determined that We must get Baba’s TIRTHA (after Abhishek and mangal snan the left water to drink).Myself and 2 daughters went on queue and had nice Darshan in the main hall and my wife was outside as she cannot enter mandir. This time we were so lucky to have few NIM TREE leaves caught by me and my elder daughter Ruhi. That night after shej Arati we took dinner and immediately I went to queue for next morning Kakad Arati . With Baba’s grace I was so close to Baba’s IDOL (which I always wanted to be in the first row) and got close Darshan and saw all morning ceremony. Immediately after Kakad Arati I rushed outside and somehow managed to get few drops of TIRTHA in a plastic bottle. I was so happy and thanked Baba for giving me the Tirtha. I brought to hotel and we all had little little after bath. That day my wife had opportunity to get Baba’s MUKH Darshan also.

Dear devotees, I would like to mention here one thing that if you are earnest to get something from your heart Baba always listen to you and fulfils your desire! And we all happily came to Mumbai and I was supposed to catch the International flight to Nigeria and family was supposed catch the domestic flight to Bangalore. We all reached our respective destinations safely with Baba’s blessings! Om Sai Ram Baba… ..Baba Thank you so much!

2)  I had planned to go to India for annual vacation on MAY’14 and accordingly I left Nigeria on 9th May (I consider 9 as lucky no for me).I had been suffering from gastric problem for last 2 years and wanted to consult the famous vaidya Dr.Pankaj Naram and Vaidya Smita Naram’s clinic Ayushakti in Malad west Mumbai. It is very difficult to meet Vaidya Smita Naram and Dr,Pankaj Naram as most of the time they spent their practices in abroad. Before, I leave Nigeria I thought in my mind that I have whole day in Mumbai and my flight to Bangalore in the afternoon,so hence I wanted to visit a Shirdi Sai Mandir before going see the doctor in Ayushakti.

So, Baba has accordingly arranged a person already for me “as he sent Shama to Kakaji Vaidya who worships Sapta-shringi Godess a VANI chapter 30-Sai Satcharita.I always use E-cab in Mumbai and the driver was waiting for me in Mumbai International Airport early morning. I was so astonished to see the same Anil driver who went with me to Shirdi in 2010 July. He was also so happy to see me after 3 years that we shared our emotion and happiness to each other and still I was having his phone number in my mobile and also he had my Kuwait no. See Baba’s Leela!

Again strange thing happened in the airport. When he came to took me from waiting place he lost his car key. When we reached near car we saw the key was lying near the car...nobody took it….this is also Baba’s leela as he is also a staunch devotee of Baba. Both of we thanked Baba at that time and tears came out from my eyes that Baba how loveable you are and how you take care of your devotees.

As I don’t know any Baba’s temple in Mumbai…Baba has arranged Anil driver to take me to a very nice temple. I was so happy and went there and had Darshan early morning…I didn’t enter the Mandir as didn’t take bath but I have seen Baba’s IDOL from road so closely and clearly that I have no words. Anil went inside and I have forwarded little dakshina to BABA with him and he got me UDi and flower etc. After that we went to Ayushakti clinic and surprisingly I got appointment with famous vaidya Dr. Smita Naram  luckily who comes everyday morning in Zee TV "Yoga for you" program.

Dear friend and devotees. Baba is always with us and he shows his presence everywhere, anytime and helps his devotees who keeps him in heart!

OM SAI NAMOH NAMAHA!

3) In Mumbai everything went well and I took all medicines from Dr.Smita Naram and She assured me not to worry and everything will be alright in due course! I finally reached Mumbai domestic airport and said bye to me dear friend Anil driver and took the Bangalore flight. Reached home safely in the evening and we all planned to go to Thiland for a week next evening.

We reached safely according our plan and with the help od Make my trip team and drove to PATTAYA city to lodge in a hotel. On the road I was curious to see any Baba’s temple! Where ever I go I always look for Baba’s photo, temple…I saw Ganeshji photo and Budha photo in our van which they carry us from BANGKOK to PATTAYA. We reached Pattaya hotel around lunch time 1:30 and went to Lobby for check In. Oh!Its really strange….above reception counter I have seen a meeting room or board room where it was written “Had Sai”- we don’t know the meaning of Thai words…..but”SAI “word was visible……I have attached the snap also. Again I remembered Shama’s GAYA TRIP in Satcharita…..Baba assured him that he will be ahead of Shama and Khote Patil for his kashi and gaya trip.

Wah! Baba….apka Leela….! Thank you so much BABA to take care of us like this!

WE ALL LOVE YOU VERY MUCH BABA!

Then we came back happily with full satisfaction of this Thailand trip. On a suitable Thursday 5th June we celebrated Sai Satyanarayan Puja at our Bangalore house as we try to do celebrate this puja every year. The puja went well nicely and a small flower fallen as Ashirwad at the end of the Puja!

THANK YOU SO MUCH BABA! PLEASE KEEP YOUR EYES ON US FOREVER! REMOVE OUR ALL ANXIETIES AND BLESS US WITH GOOD HEALTH AND LONG HAPPY LIFE!

OM SAI NAMOH NAMAHA
SRI SAI NAMOH NAMAHA
JAI JAI SAI NAMOH NAMAHA
SADGURU SAI NAMOH NAMAHA!

Those Who Make The Effort Realize God

Once Sai Baba (a Saint from Shirdi, India), was playing with some coins by tossing them from one hand to the other, while testing them in various ways. He appeared to examine each coin individually. In this manner, he played with the coins for about half an hour without exchanging a word with His disciples, Damu and Nana, who were standing nearby.

Curious to know what Sai Baba was doing, Nana asked Him why He was scrutinising the coins over and over again. Baba replied, "Dear son, it is true that I am repeating the same action and uttering the same words over and over again. Look at that mango tree in the yard. It is in full bloom, the leaves are hardly visible. If all the flowers in the tree were to become fruits, would the branches bear their weight?

So, that does not happen, most of the flowers on the tree are swept away by the wind, many others drop off on their own accord, and only some of them become fruits. Squirrels, birds or monkeys eat some of the fruits. Thus, over ninety percent of the flowers do not result in fruits that remain on the tree. Only ten percent or so of the fruits remain on the tree. Is it not so?"The disciples agreed that it was indeed so.

Sai Baba continued, "In the same manner, thousands of devotees are coming to me. Are they all maturing into good devotees? Many drop off half-way on the path. Some come for study. Many seek wealth while many others come in connection with success in their jobs, marriages or other such personal desires.

There is some defect or the other in each of them. No one comes for My sake. I have a precious thing in my coffers to offer them. But no one seeks it. It is for this reason that I am examining the coins.

Among these coins there are some that are worn out, some that are debased and some that are twisted and worthless. Just as I am examining the defects in these coins, I am also looking for the defects in the devotees who come to me. I am trying to find out if they can really comprehend My truth with their defects. They want Me but all their desires are related to mundane objects.

How can they attain Me with this attitude? How can you reach your destination if you get into a train that is going in some other direction than your destination? They want Me but they don't make efforts to realise Me. Among the many that come to Me, it is only one in a thousand who really makes the efforts to realise Me!""

Moral: Main obstacles most of us face which prevent us from spiritual growth are our inconsistency, not making genuine efforts and attachment to worldly life. It is very important to work on our personality defects so that we can comprehend Guru's teachings and achieve God Realization.

Who is Happy ??

A crow lived in the forest and was absolutely satisfied in life. But one day he saw a swan.

"This swan is so white," he thought, "and I am so black. This swan must be the happiest bird in the world."
He expressed his thoughts to the swan. "Actually," the swan replied, "I was feeling that I was the happiest bird around until I saw a parrot, which has two colors. I now think the parr...ot is the happiest bird in creation."

The crow then approached the parrot. The parrot explained, "I lived a very happy life—until I saw a peacock. I have only two colors, but the peacock has multiple colors."

The crow then visited a peacock in the zoo and saw that hundreds of people had gathered to see him. After the people had left, the crow approached the peacock. "Dear peacock," the crow said, "you are so beautiful. Every day thousands of people come to see you. When people see me, they immediately shoo me away. I think you are the happiest bird on the planet."

The peacock replied, "I always thought that I was the most beautiful and happy bird on the planet. But because of my beauty, I am entrapped in this zoo. I have examined the zoo very carefully, and I have realized that the crow is the only bird not kept in a cage. So for past few days I have been thinking that if I were a crow, I could happily roam everywhere."

That's our problem too. We make unnecessary comparison with others and become sad. We don't value what has God given us. This all leads to the vicious cycle of unhappiness.

The Virtue of Patience

It is only human to be gloomy and depressed when things do not go "our" way. Let us remember on this holy day about the demands of Sadguru Sainath, the unique Saint God of Shirdi. The two pennies that Sai demands from His children has a lot significance impregnated in it. Shraddha and Saburi that literally translates to faith and patience.

Faith may be a function of one's religious disposition or it may be felt just by sheer knowledge of experiencing the returns of benefits. Earlier, we talked about faith as an emotional gratitude that one expresses for the rewards Sadguru bestows on His follower. We all know how we started believing in Sainath. Faith, as the emotional gratitude is just the beginning of a long testing time. Now, let us talk about patience. Saburi, patience is endurance; an active phase of courage and waiting.

This is a phase where one's faith is tested, repeatedly. This is a phase where faith in Sadguru undergoes constant evaluation and re-evaluation. This duration enables a devotee to re-examine his/her personal encounters with the Lord only to come out spiritually wiser.

Patience is the testing ground for faith. In other words, the patience sustains and strengthens the faith. Patience is the voluntary effort that comes out of one's faith. Thus, patience is an important part of Saadhana. Faith without patience is no faith at all.

Sri Hemadpanth said it well, "Let the world go topsy-turvy, hold on to the feet of Sadguru". So, let us sustain and strengthen our faith by believing in the virtue of patience and resorting to the best recourse, His holy feet.

Just be yourself

"A plum once said, 'just because a banana lover came by, I converted myself into a banana. Unfortunately, his taste changed after a few months and so I became an orange. When he said I was bitter I became an apple, but he went in search of grapes.

Yielding to the opinions of so many people, I have changed so many times that I no more know who I am.... How I wish I had remained a plum and waited for a plum lover.'

Just because a group of people do not accept you as you are, there is no necessity for you to strip yourself of your originality. You need to think good of yourself, for the world takes you at your own estimate.

Never stoop down in order to gain recognition. Never let go of your true self to win a relationship. In the long run, you will regret that you traded your greatest glory - your uniqueness, for momentary validation.

Even Gandhi was not accepted by many people. The group that does not accept you as you is not your world. There is a world for each one of you, where you shall reign as king /queen by just being yourself. Find that world... in fact, that world will find you.

What water can do, gasoline cannot and what copper can, gold cannot. The fragility of the ant enables it to move and the rigidity of the tree enables it to stay rooted. Everything and everybody has been designed with a proportion of uniqueness to serve a purpose that we can fulfill only by being our unique self.

You as you alone can serve your purpose and I as I alone can serve my purpose. You are here to be you... just you. There was a time in this world when a Krishna was required and he was sent; a time when a Christ was required and he was sent; a time when a Mahatma was required and he was sent; a time when a J.R.D.Tata was required and he was sent. There came a time when you were required on this planet and hence you were sent.

Let us be the best we can be. Don't miss yourself and let the world not miss you. In the history of the universe, there has been nobody like you and to the infinite of time to come, there will be no one like you.

Existence should have loved you so much that it broke the mould after making you, so that another of your kind will never get repeated.

You are original. You are rare. You are unique. You are a wonder.  Celebrate your Uniqueness."

Can one be ever truly happy?

Contributed Article: Can one be ever truly happy?

Have you ever wondered whether one can be truly happy? Happiness and sorrow are states of emotion that is experienced by all of us. Both of them are like two sides of a coin. And both of them come in cycles one after the other. We feel excited, estatic, etc. when we are happy and conversely we feel sad, dejected, etc when we feel sorrow.

Sorrow hurts more as it negatively plays with our ego, senses and seems to last longer than happiness. Sometimes sorrowful states drives one to such extreme despair that one feels like committing suicide to get out of that pain. It is during hard and sorrowful times that a person's self confidence is at its lowest and one starts to depend on external energies and sources to survive. In all humility one approaches anyone who can help. In such a time, the ever merciful loving and compassionate Sadguru, comes running to the rescue. He takes care of his children and makes them tide over tough times. Then comes the cycle of happiness and joy as one slowly rises and starts taking control of their lives.

That little voice sitting inside starts raising its ugly head and one gets into the grip of ego, the other senses and maya that plays all around us. Desire after desire start flowing in as waves in an ocean never ending and ever playing with our minds. Despite having enough for a decent living, one falls again into the trap of sorrowful state.

It is said that we all have to suffer the consequences of our Karma. Karma is mostly misunderstood as a form of physical action only. Karma is not limited to physical action, it is also generated because of our mental actions. In fact every thought that originates in the mind is causing Karma. Be it positive or negative. Surrendering one to the feet of the Sadguru by constantly and consistently keeping Sadguru in our thoughts is the only means of negating Karma. That continuous process leads one to differentiate and through differentiation arises a state of mind that recognizes that happiness and sorrow are caused by inside forces and not from outside influences. Control of the inside forces by complete surrender to the Sadguru is the key to true happiness.

From The Secret Daily Teachings

Most people don't realize how much passion they put into what they don't want. When you speak to a friend and you tell them all about an "awful" situation, you are putting passion into what you don't want. When you react to an event negatively, with the response that it is "terrible," you are putting passion into what you don't want.

You are a beautiful passionate being, so make sure you direct your passion wisely.

When your are in the final days of your life, what will you want?

Most often in our busy schedule, we take our loved ones for granted. We forget to show them how much we care, love and appreciate their presence in our lives. We fail to express our true feelings in words and deeds. We fail to make them feel special or wanted. Its strange that we cry for our loved ones when they are gone- we miss them when they are no more with us but when they are alive and very much  a part of our lives,- our priorities are often in the favor of all the material things that money can buy but what is priceless- we often fail to recognize, appreciate and acknowledge at the right time..

May Baba  bless us all and give us the wisdom to appreciate the presence of our loved ones in our life. May Sai make us realize that relationships are a bond of lifetime and we all need them more than anything else at some point of our lives. May Our Sadguru Sainath shower his kind grace on us so that we can understand that All the money in the world will not be able to buy that one precious moment with our loved ones when we need them the most..

Peace of Mind - Buddha's Teachings

Once Buddha was going from one town to another town with a few of his followers. While they were travelling, they happened to pass by a lake.
Buddha told one of his disciples, “I am thirsty. Do get me some water from that lake there.”
The disciple walked up to the lake. When he reached it, he noticed that some people were washing clothes in the water and, right at that moment, a bullock cart started crossing through the lake. As a result, the water became very muddy, very turbid. The disciple thought, “How can I give this muddy water to Buddha?” So he came back and told Buddha, “The water in there is very muddy. I don’t think it is fit to drink.”
After about half an hour, Buddha again asked the same disciple to go back to the lake and get him some water to drink. The disciple obeyed. This time he found that the lake had absolutely clear water in it. The mud had settled down and the water above it looked fit to be had.
So he collected some water in a pot and brought it to Buddha.
Buddha looked at the water, and then looked up at the disciple and said, “See what you did to make the water clean. You let it be… and the mud settled down on its own.” Your mind is also like that. When it is disturbed, just let it be. Give it a little time. It will settle down on its own.
You don’t have to put in any effort to calm it down. It will happen. It is effortless.
“Having peace of mind is not a strenuous job; it is an effortless process. When there is peace inside you, that peace permeates to the outside.”

Importance of Attitude

Sri Satchidananda Sadguru Sainath Maharaj ki Jai

There was a man who made living selling balloons at a fair. He had all colors of balloons Including red, yellow, green. Whenever business was slow, he would release a helium filled balloons into the air and when the children saw it go up, they all wanted to buy one. They would come up to him, buy a balloon and his sales would go up again. He continues this process all day.

One day, he felt something tugging his jacket. He turned around and saw a little boy who asked,” If you release a black balloon, would that also fly?” Moved by the boy’s concern, the man replied with empathy.” Son, it is not the Color of the balloon, it is what inside that makes it go up.”

The same thing applies to our lives. It is what is inside that counts. The thing inside of us that makes is go up is our attitude.

Logic

Please read carefully and relate these 10 Commandments with our life....
you may enjoy more...

That is attitude
